Registry Defense Review
EDITORS REVIEW
To setup the test, we selected Six Different Computers each with different operating systems. We found that many of the older machines had very cluttered registry's which conflicted with some registry cleaner programs. Registry Defense offers a very deep and powerful scanning algorithm that works well with the built-in ignore list and backup features. Registry Defense increased some of our computers by 33%.
Program Features
Some of Registry Defense's key features include a Registry Scan, Backup/Restore, Custom Program Settings, & a Startup Manager.
Registry Areas Scanned (Detects & Repairs)
Registry Defense has a powerful deep scanning algorithm which detects registry entries for repair in fifteen (15) areas of the Windows registry. You can check/uncheck areas you wish to scan and click the Start Scan button to begin the registry scan.
Overall, we loved how easy it was to perform a registry scan and detect errors on our computer (1,347 errors found).
The areas scanned include: COM/Active X Entries, Uninstall Entries, Font Entries, Shared Dlls, Application Paths, Help File Information, Windows Startup Items, File/Path References, Program Shortcuts, Empty Registry Keys, File Associations, History, Program Associations, System Drivers and Firewall Rules.
Technical Support
One nice addition Registry Defense includes is a trouble ticket submission. This feature is built into the program and allows a user to send a diagnostic report to a Registry Defense technician. This information is then used to help troubleshoot any problems encountered and/or release patches that remedy the problem.
Pros: Simple & easy to use interface, very effective in increasing computer performance, powerful scanning algorithm and error detection
Cons: In the future we would like to see added compatibility for older operating systems such as Windows 98.
